If you experience Lag or issues with parties due to your NAT type being "Moderate/Strict" Try these...

    Connection
Use a wired connection if possible, Wired is always stronger than wireless!
If you can't. Maybe use Ethernet plugs/Powerline adapters
    I use these...http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4273888.htm

    Channel Changing
Try going into your router settings by typing in the routers IP address (If you don't know how to, read below!) and change the channel to 1,6 or 11 (default setting will be "AUTO"). They are the ones with less interference.

    Port Forwarding
Go into the port forwarding section and open the ports which Xbox One generally use
    which are...

    Port 88 (UDP)
    Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)
    Port 53 (UDP and TCP)
    Port 80 (TCP)
    Port 500 (UDP)
    Port 3544 (UDP)
    Port 4500 (UDP)

Also open these specifically for Fifa 16...

    Port 3659 (UDP and TCP)

    For COD Black Ops 3

    Port 3075 (UDP)

    Access to Router Settings
If you don't know your router IP address, just Google "Default IP address for "so and so" router" Then type the IP in the address bar of your browser.
I'll list some of them here...
    BT Homehub - 192.168.1.254 or 192.168.1.1
    Virgin - 192.168.0.1
    TalkTalk - 192.168.1.1
    Sky - 192.168.0.1

The password to access it should be on the back of the router.
If it isn't, then again...Google "default password for "so and so" router".
Most of the time it is; Username = Admin, Password = password

    Enable UPnP

Inside the firewall settings, there will be a section called "UPnP" just hit enable. Basically opens the ports when asked by a device.

I wouldn't recommend using channel 11, as on VM that's the auto channel, and has the most interference.

Other than that, well explained. ::)

Oh really? I had Virgin Media a couple of years back and every time i checked, its auto channel was always 10!

Cheers, Not sure if someone wants to sticky this or not.

Yeah, I had to change mine using Aaron's thread to mess with my settings. But yes, auto-channel is 11, so best for me was 1 or 5/6.

Minor thing for people who use a fritzbox, if you check detailed network and you get the error: unable to get a Teredo IP address.

    Newer models:
Be sure to have put your Xbox (if connected wired) in port 1 or 2.

    Older models:
Check the network filter/restrictions (under uPNP) on the fritzbox, by default it blocks these packages. Be sure to put view on 'advanced'.

Does anyone know how to change this on BThomehub 5?

when you click on port forwarding it only comes up with things you can add to the router, i added the xbox one under application and XBOX-SYSTEMOS under device, (it doesn't have fifa listed on there list of games or applications.

I find i get nat type strict come up quite regularly but doesn't affect me too bad compared to some people i know. I play xbox on a wired connection. so any ideas how to stop the strict nat type?

If the game is not listed, you should add the ports manual (mind the UTP/TCP)

    http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/46548/~/how-to-set-up-game-and-application-sharing%2Fport-forwarding-facilities-on-the-bt
    (part 2)

If the home hub allow uPNP it should auto open all ports needed for the XBO.

You can test turning on DMZ for your xbox, see if you get a open NAT.
    http://i0.wp.com/bfmedic.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/BT-Home-Hub-setting-DMZ.jpg

Also try the advanced network diagnostics, see if you do get a teredo IP address.

Few other resources you could try:

Thank you for this, I typically have tried this already. I turned the router on and off after putting all the changes and finally got an open NAT!!
